About the Artist

My photo
I just love crafting, the messier the better. Have been crafting all my days but in the last 16 years have been doing more and more. My obsession began with making cards and from there I have tried many different forms of crafting. Great fan of Tim_Holtz love all his products would love to own them all one day. Graphic 45 is another must have for me and again would love to have it all. And then there is Prima well what can a girl say, just simply stunningly beautiful. Really enjoying the vintage, shabby chic and steampunk styles which are very much in vogue at the minute. Love Lace and Pearl trim, you might be seeing a fair bit of it all on here. xx Please keep calling past and enjoy my crafting journey with me. Great Big Huge Hugs Becca xxx

Rhedd and Rosie's Challenge Blog - Challenge #27 - Anything but a Card

Hello everyone, the winner has been chosen for Challenge #26 over at Rhedd and Rosie's Challenge Blog so if you haven't already make sure to head over and check it out.

This fortnight our theme is

Anything but a Card

Here is my DT project a Desk tidy/organiser with 2 altered glass jar pen holders

I have been wanting to make one of these for ages now.  I got a hold of an old book and folded all the pages in half to create the centre fan which can be used to old notes, reminders, business cards, atc's etc etc.  I then glued the book flat onto some chipboard and created a box around it using Jim TheGentlemanCrafter Structure Strips technique (this is great technique and I would highly recommend you check out his video tutorial here).  I had this lovely bright and funky material in my stash, gifted to me from a wonderful friend of mine who just knew I would put it to good use, I covered the box frame completely in this material using Fabric Glue.  You all have to be so very proud of me for this next bit, as I broke open my Tim Holtz box feet and used them!!! (I did have to take a lot of deep breaths as I love all his stuff and have hoarded these for a long time).  I have decided to gift this to my wonderful friend so feel she is well worth the honour of now owning these said feet lol.  Looking around my craft room these 2 empty candle holder glass jars caught my eye and I thought yeah, they will fit perfectly at either side and be great to act as pen/pencil holders, so grabbed them from their shelf and decorated them with 2 different white laces, some flat backed pearl trim, some bling pieces of broken jewellery and then a wee red lace bow to finish off.  I then rooted around my ribbons and found this red and white edged ribbon which came off of a Birthday cake a few years ago and I thought I could create a double bow effect and hold in place with the beautiful red bling broach which my friend Jane in America so very kindly sent me.

I hope you like my upcycled/recycled project and that it's owner is happy with it too.

This fortnight our theme is

Love is in the Air

Here is my DT wall hanging project

I was very kindly gifted 2 wooden hearts which were just perfect for this DT Project.  I covered them both in Prima Fairy Belle papers and white washed the edges.  I trimmed around them using some gathered cream lace.  To attach the 2 hearts together I used 2 Tim Holts clips attached with some chain and jump rings, trimmed with 2 pieces of broken braclet pieces (love my bling I do)  I decided to make the flowers using the same paper line and Diemond Dies roses die, I also white washed them to tie in with the hearts.  I added pearl strands in behind the flowers just for a wee bit more bling and also attached a strand as the hanger at the top.  The cherub was also a very kind gift and I had to add it in along with a metal heart key and a book corner at the bottom which helps to accent the heart shape.  I found a piece of cardboard and ruffed it up a bit ripping and tearing and then stamped out the work 'Loved' from a Prima stamp set.  And then just as I looked up I noticed one of my handmade stickpins which toned in perfectly too, so just had to add it in.

That Craft Place - Challenge #25 - Love

Hello everyone Challenge 24 is live over at That Craft Place Challenge Blog.  Our theme for this challenge is

Love

For my DT Project I created this tag and used this fabulous Ditzi Digi Designs images
Li Valentine by Li

I coloured this image in using my Inktense pencils (a very generous and well thought out gift from my hubby for my Birthday, he really is getting great at knowing just what to buy me) and added Glossy Accents to her eyes and necklace heart.  I inked up the tag using TH DI Victorian Velvet and added some Prima paper on top, distressed and also inked in TH DI VV.  I spritzed the Die Cut heart from That Craft Place using some Cosmic Shimmer Sprays to add a beautiful colour tone and glimmer.  I matted some laces and doilies from my stash behind the Digi Image to set it off.  The bottom of the tag I added some gorgeous crochet lace trim and brown trim (also from TCP) and topped with some flat backed pearls from my stash.  Just to finish off I added some flowers to add to the romantic 'Love' theme, just as if she is standing in a garden full of beautiful flowers.

Available from That Craft Place

Die cut Heart
Open weave Burlap
Lace and Trims

to purchase this image and take a look at the fantastic array of designs available.

The Team
Please take time to visit us all :-)

and little old me :-)

And without further ado here is my first DT Project for Rhedd's Creative Spirit

I altered this lovely box from the MDF Man using one of my favourite paper lines, Prima Lyric.  I started by covering the whole box in Black Gesso and then covered inside and out, top and bottom in this gorgeous paper line, distressed around the edges and edged in TH DI Black Soot.  I trimmed it around the bottom lip with some pearl string from my stash.  I spritzed some Cosmic Shimmer spray on the top, added a metal drawer pull, some Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish dies (cut from the dark papers in the paper line), created one of my little leather bound books, added a key on a chain, made some handmade flowers with a Marrianne Creatables die (again from the paper line), added a few peachy hip roses and pearl stemens.  I also added some handmade and hip rose flowers along the bottom tip of the box and also some of the Cheery Lynn dies, cut in to smaller segments.  Then to finish off I rubbed some White Gesso to add a lovely distressed feel.

Please come over and support us and join in with our first Challenge for your chance to win this fantastic Alterable Pen Caddy.  Isn't it just screaming out to your to be altered? ;-)

I so hope you like my first ever creation for Rhedd's Creative Spirit.
